I wanted to try something really healthy. So, in my last visit to the Super Supplements store in Bellevue, I picked up Spirulina powder.
The reason.. it claims to be
(1) Rich in antioxidants especially beta carotene,
(2) Boosts immunity and fights cancerous cells,
(3)Energy rich food,
(4) highly concentrated natural food.
Do you know it has around 65-70% vegetable protein which is 95% digestible, compared to 18-20% digestiblity for meat protein ?
The most tempting claim is one tablespoon of spirulina is equivalent to 4 servings of vegetables a day.
I can vouch for its cholorophyll content. Its so dark green and tastes bit awful.
Figured the best way to have it is by mixing it will a glass of vegetable juice. You dont feel the taste of the spirulina.
I read an article about how an instant energizer spirulina is. Lemme know what you think about it if you have tried it or when you try it :). From my research on the internet, I heard Earthrise's spirulina is the best brand available in the US.
