My latest discoveries

Last week, I managed to cook thrice a week, eat at home and to-go to office as well. For that matter, I am impressed with myself ;). I figured the secret is to make something different and appealing to my palate. Added shredded carrots to mtr rava idli mix and had it with tomato kothsu prepared fresh. The next day went in finishing the dish. The following night, it was shredded carrot/coconut rice. The next day, it was Paav bhaji. Was really surprised how easy it was to make it and for it to taste yummy. So, come friday night, I felt I have earned the right to try a new restaurant. Ephesus in West Seattle.. I wonder how it missed my radar until now. I just love the ambience, its a cottage with high ceiling, leather upholstered booth, there was such a cozy feeling about the place. Food was very yummy.. ordered ephesus plate with hummus, baba ganoush, ezme and naan like bread was served instead of usual pita.. it was perfect. How can you leave a turkish restaurant without trying their coffee :). One thing I regret is the choice of vegetarianism.. there isn't much of a choice in most places if you are strictly vegetarian. I really vouch for this place.. worth visiting.

In my quest for tres leches cake in seattle, I came across the salvadorean bakery. I tried dishes other than the tres leches I went for. Pupusas, tamales and fried plantains.. and Rice Horchata Drink..well worth it. Check out this place when you find time.. www.thesalvadoreanbakery.com.

Well.. I did find my perfect tres leches cake at Borrachini's (nowcake.com). Only after checking out the cakes in this place, I learnt tasty yummy cakes need not be expensive. Guess what, I bought a 1/2-sheet tres leches cake for $50. That is quite a steal. Borachini's is an authentic Italian bakery/grocery store. They have an amazing selection of pastries, desserts and Italian stuff. Again, well worth a visit and you will cherish this place going forward.
