Aah.. my first doll

I went home one day and asked my dad for a kannamoodi kannatharakara bommai cause my friend had it and I totally enjoyed playing with it. I had told my dad that doll costed only 10rupees and I knew that is the budget for mine too. Whenever the shopkeeper quoted almost twice the price, I realized I have to take the matter into hands if I have to make the transaction happen. So, used to negotiate with the shopkeeper saying how my friend got a bigger doll for 10rupees etc. Even before my dad decides to walk away, I used to walk away since I felt that anything more than 10rupees is too much to ask for. Well, it took 3 trips to townhall before we bought it. Named her Ruby. Oh there started my obsession with her.. she was a living person to me. Stitched clothes for her.. pierced her ears so I can put bead earrings. Thats the utmost I went about deforming her. Made bead jewellery, built doll house, bed, cradle and what not. She was the love of my life. At some point, my mom and sis (according to me, the most sadistic folks) decided this is getting too much since I am already in my 5th grade and this has been going on for too long (from 1st grade). They hid it and gave it to my cousin. I did not come to know about it until I had turned the house upside down and my sis had the heart to tell me the truth. I cried so much that we decided we will make a trip to my granny's place to get it back. By the time we reached, it was all over. The monster cousin of mine had tonsured the doll's head, digged out one eye and burnt part of the body.. No other doll took its place. My sis tried to make up for it by buying me a barbie when she got her first salary.. when was that.. when I was in college. It was too late.. and on top of it.. how can a barbie replace that chubby cheeked blue eye doll with eyes that can open and close ?.

(Btw, I am amazed at the negotiation skills you had at such a young age!)
