My Favorite take-aways from Randy's speech.
When you’re screwing up and nobody’s saying anything to you anymore, that means they gave up. And that’s a lesson that stuck with me my whole life. Is that when you see yourself doing something badly and nobody’s bothering to tell you anymore, that’s a very bad place to be. Yourcritics are your ones telling you they still love you and care.
When it comes to men that are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do. It’s that simple. It’s that easy.
Obvious but often neglected :) ones are here.
(1) Get a feedback loop and listen to it. Your feedback loop can be this dorky spreadsheet thing I did, or it can just be one great man who tells you what you need to hear. The hard part is the listening to it. When people give you feedback, cherish it and use it.
(2) Show gratitude.
(3) Don’t complain. Just work harder.
(4) Be good at something, it makes you valuable.
(5) Work hard
(6) Find the best in everybody. One of the things that Jon Snoddy as I said told me, is that you might have to wait a long time, sometimes years, but people will show you their good side. Just keep waiting no matter how long it takes. No one is all evil. Everybody has a good side, just keep waiting, it will come out.
(7) be prepared. Luck is truly where preparation meets opportunity.
If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.
From my personal experience, I have heard of people detesting hard work.. oh he/she's so uncool working long hours ... 95% of the time success is achieved by hard work :).. there's no short cut :)... so just work your ass off :).

This is the title of the "Last Lecture" given by Randy Pausch, a successful enthusiastic CMU Professor. To say the least, its an amazing lecture though a long video but really a worthwhile one to watch.. check it out :).

Men, Women, Comparisons
Comparisons rule life. Either you compare your life with somebody else or somebody else is comparing their life with yours. Either it makes a person feel good or feel lousy. Its amazing to see how widely different is each one's life from the other despite their social proximity at present.
I vividly remember from the speech of a successful woman, Myrtle Potter. Everyone's life is full of trials and tribulations. What we get to look at in an another person's life is what they decide to show to the exterior world. Instead of thinking that you are the only person with an unfair hand, just play the best you can with what you have got because others' hands may not be as good as yours for all you might know. The socially savvy and the successful play up their successes and conceal their weaknesses/failures artfully. The fundamental truth is people want to be around happy people and people who have it all together. In the stage of life, be the best magician you can be but be true to yourself.
