Hungry and drooling :(

I happened to come across this blog with Kongunaadu(coimbatore & surrounding areas) recipes.. The recipes and the images that go along with it have rekindled my love for cooking (ok.. thats an exaggeration.. I want to eat those dishes and only way I can have them is by making them). I miss my mom and home cooked food :(. Seeing the list, I realize how easy it was to be a vegetarian for half of my life... ofcourse vegetarianism during my childhood years :). No lofty reasons for vegetarianism..(1) I happened to see a goat slaughter which grossed me out, (2) found mutton and chicken requiring more effort to eat(u've to chew before u swallow.. too much wurkk), and (3) and now I realize, existence of plenty of choices in vegetarian food tastier than meat :). Well, now the list of dishes to cook for next couple of weeks :) .. (1) Kadalaikottai kathirikkai kuzhambu, (2) paniyaaram with onion chutney, (3) kollu paruppu and rasam, (4) thattapayir katthirikkai kuzhambu, (5) vendakkaai kaara kuzhambu, (6) more kuzhambu, (6) squash kootu, (7) peerkangai chutney with idli, (8)senakizhangu vadai, (9) paruppu vadai, (10) kathirikkai kaara kuzhambu with paruppu usli, (11)idli with thakkali kaara kuzhambu, (12) paavakkai curry. Ok...I am terribly hungry but waiting to attend a meeting before heading home.. cannot think of anything else but cook one of the above dishes and eat. **sigh**

Now that I've read this post, you cant escape not calling us home for a treat (winks)

herez a recipe blog post that I totally enjoyed: http://chaipani.blogspot.com/2006/12/pattu-mami-makes-poli.html
The writer video tapes as 'pattu mami' rattles away her time tested recipes. It makes you miss the food, India, pattis, the old style kitchen...

Harini.. inviting you folks has been in the back of my mind for a while :). I'll definitely invite you, aunty, deeps and her parents home for dinner. Seeing the recipes I realized why I lost love for cooking. I enjoyed cooking before coz I used to make these dishes that I love...even if they mean too much effort. Once I started cooking simple qick fixes, I lost interest :(. There was a time I didnt know to cook simple but elaborately..like gravy(always used mixie), poriyal and rasam :) and used to do every day until one of my friends pointed out that I can spend my time more usefully by studying something in the evening and sticking to cooking simple meals :).
