Seattle->SFO->Singapore ->Home

I bought this bubble tea for 35HKD. I was just hoping looking at the numbers displayed on the menu in the HK airport, that the conversion rate should be in the neighborhood of Yen/RMB especially when I realized Singapore dollars is pretty close to USD. Heaving a sigh of relief after verifying my hunch (Yay.. 1HKD=0.12USD). I never knew Singapore was this hot damp place. Took a shower and headed out with a new friend(who I ended up chatting with in my flight from HK). Had a nice south indian vegetarian meal for $4 and headed out in the free ride to suntec city for shopping. Few things that stood out in Singapore are: (a) People are very nice, witty and proud of their city, (b) Singapore reminded me of Bangalore in the 90s (green, hardly crowded). The shops were bit depressing, more expensive than the US and nothing eye-catchy. After few cups of coffee, oh 3 clockwise rounds around the fountain of wealth(well.. I was told u will get rich if u do that..so thot why to miss it if thats all it takes to get rich ;)), and stroll to sun-flyer to catch the bus from the only other stop of the bus.. it was an interesting experience.
My first experience in landing directly in my hometown.. aah security clearance. I had to tug along a used electronic keyboard for a nephew of mine. The poor customs officers were tempted by the luggage, forced me to open, declare the price(how will i know if i was not the buyer.. and a passdown from my sis's boss).. so randomly quoted $150 bought 6 years ago. He was asking what should be its current value, and declare it in the form. After putting in $100 and disappointing a couple of more officers about the fact its a used old keyboard.. I stepped out of the airport. The city is no way cool.. quite warm that too at midnight.. pretty disappointing. Even more worrying news was, a big connector road between the two NHs is going to be through our community. JS Homer.. be assured you are definitely now a crore pathi because of your vacant plot.. which is waiting to triple in the next couple of years... so hold on to it tight :).
