Three rules of communication to be used together: Be kind, Be honest, have a constructive intent.
One of my friend's response for the above:
Be Kind is very useful. When you say something even the slightly unkind, communication is basically closed, the other person will basically stop listening from that point.
Anyway here is a list of things I’ve learnt from people like XYZ or from my dad and things like that.
1. Never try to guess what others are thinking. Always ask.
2. People make small small mistakes, If you keep thinking about it, life will be hell for you, even if you don’t do anything about it. Forgive them ( yeah tell yourself , its their mistake , poor they and then forgive them), and life will be great.
3. Never point out someone’s mistake, they’ll correct that, and never forgive you.
4. Never decide to say anything (in fact never decide to do anything) when you’re deprived of Food, sleep, and other basic needs.
5. Learn to realize that you’re hungry or feeling sleepy (or deprived of something else), when you’re hungry :). This is important for sanely doing 4.
6. Accept the fact that you can't do anything about things you can’t control.
