I am actually referring to the gossip monger categories into one of which you can place a person. The active ones are the most interesting ones... very curious to know about others, always looking for some kind of gossip. This kind sometimes, makes a story out of his/her suspicion and plays it on a unsuspecting victim to check for the validity of the story. Based on the victim's reaction, he/she decides on the validity of the story. This always constant probing/prodding category also prides on valuing his/her own privacy. How they do not like to share things close to their heart. Interestingly, the same person is very sensitive to even a seemingly innocuous enquiry clamming them up or making them defensive. The other end of the spectrum has this set of people who tell everything about their life to whoever listens to them.. their life is an open book. This category is also not so much interested in finding out what the other person should be sharing in the wake of his/her own openness to the other person. Any human being can clearly fall into one of the above two categories or is a go-in-between the two categories (leaning towards the first or the second category more than the other one).
The in-betweens are mostly the curious listeners who do not make up stories about folks but at the same time safeguard their own privacy.. the smartest of the three categories.
Just my observation :).

:)) I agree... I know people who fall under different portions of the spectrum.
